General Aviation pilots must inform the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee about their planned trip before crossing the external borders of the Schengen area. The information in a General Declaration helps the Marechaussee ensure smooth border crossings for travellers.

The General Declaration includes details about the crew, aircraft registration number, and travel plan.

Use the Dutch Traveller Portal to submit a General Declaration.

How it works

To submit a General Declaration, use the Dutch Traveller Portal at least 2 hours before departure. This applies to flights leaving the Netherlands for a non-Schengen country and flights arriving from a non-Schengen country to the Netherlands.

Official border crossing points are the only places where aircraft can enter and exit the Schengen area. These points have specific opening hours.
