In the event that you lose your passport, ID card or driving licence at an airport in the Netherlands, you may inquire with the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee to determine if it has been recovered.
Travel documents discovered at the airport are handed over to the Marechaussee in order to safeguard the owner's identity. If you need to claim a lost travel document, you can contact the Marechaussee via phone.
Reporting lost documents
Should your travel document remain unlocated, promptly report the loss to your embassy or consulate. If your Dutch passport or ID card is not found, inform your local municipality (gemeente) as soon as possible. This is a crucial step to prevent potential misuse of your old travel document and to initiate the process of obtaining a new one. Reporting the loss to the police is not required.
